Inhalers The metered dose inhaler (MDI) is a relatively crude device for delivering medication to the lungs, since it relies on a particulate jet that is (often arbitrarily) ‘fired’ into the breath stream by the patient. Many varieties are available, but practically all rely on the flawed coordination of the patient when using the device.
Inhaler flow lines COPHIT can remove the arbitrary nature (improve efficiency) of inhaled drug delivery by computing the true drug release profile of the delivery device and calculating the effect of the breath stream on drug transport. The former requires that you define parameters pertinent to the device, in particular its shape (geometry) and the pressure characteristics of the MDI canister.
